This sculpture honors Balto, the famed sled dog who helped deliver life-saving diphtheria antitoxin to Nome, Alaska, during the 1925 serum run. Facing brutal winter conditions, Balto and the final sled team completed the critical last leg of the journey, ensuring the medicine arrived intact and saving countless lives. His story remains a symbol of bravery, perseverance, and loyalty.
